SUMMER SESSION ENROLLMENT: The Northwest Career & Technical Academy will hold an open house and 2019 summer session registration event for high school students and the community on April 24 at its Mount Vernon campus.

Students will be able to register for the 2019-2020 school year as well as the 2019 summer session using the new online registration system.

The summer session is from June 24 through July 12.

Some program offerings include criminal justice, drone and ROV automation, marine services, video game development and veterinary assisting.

ART COMPETITION: U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen is inviting high-school-age students who live in or attend school in the 2nd Legislative District to showcase their artistic talents in the 2019 Congressional Art Competition.

The nationwide competition aims to encourage and recognize artistic talent in each congressional district. The winning entry will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol, and the winning artist will receive two free plane tickets to Washington, D.C., for the Congressional Institute’s Art Competition Reception in June.

Entry forms must be signed by the student, a parent or guardian and a school faculty member. Forms and art submissions are due by 4 p.m. April 26.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION: Online registration for kindergarten students entering the Anacortes School District is open.

Children must be age 5 on or before Aug. 31 in order to register.

A Kindergarten Parent Information Night will be held at 6 p.m. April 22 at Anacortes Middle School.

Kindergarten Round Up will be on Thursday, April 25, and Friday, April 26. Online registration is requested before attending Kindergarten Round Up.

Parents should plan to attend Kindergarten Round Up with their child.

Health and developmental screenings will be provided.

Please allow up to an hour for the entire process. Bring the following required paperwork:

n Child’s birth certificate or passport

n Completed Certificate of Immunization Status (CIS)

n Child’s immunization record

n If applicable, parenting plan/court order and/or proof of guardianship
