CHEHALIS — The La Conner High School girls' basketball team opened the state playoffs Friday with a 52-44 loss to Napavine.
The sixth-seeded Braves (19-5) now must play 11th-seeded Northwest Christian of Colbert (19-7) in a loser-out game of the Class 2B State Tournament on Wednesday at Spokane Arena.
The regional round loss to third-seeded Napavine (23-3) snapped La Conner's eight-game win streak.
The Braves led 21-20 at halftime, but were outscored 17-10 in the third quarter.
"Tough third quarter for us, and really the theme in three of our five losses this year," La Conner coach Joe Harper said. "We have had leads in three of those games going into the second half. We need to find a way to execute better down the stretch."
La Conner, which averages five 3-pointers a game, shot 1-for-11 from behind the arc.
The Braves' Ellie Marble had 26 points and Josie Harper 14.
Northwest Christian goes into the Round of 12 following a 69-37 win over Forks.
