A 26-year-old Marysville man was sentenced Thursday to 14 months in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree assault with a deadly weapon for his involvement in a 2017 robbery attempt that left a man dead.
Erik Felipe Mercado is the second person to be sentenced in the attempted robbery of a Mount Vernon tattoo shop in December 2017.
Three men entered the shop, court records state, but one of the men, Jose Luis Zapata, 19, was killed during the incident after being shot in the head.
No one has been charged for Zapata's death.
Zapata's cousin, Andres Sanchez-Segovia, pleaded guilty and was sentenced in April to 11 months in jail for his part in the incident.
Upon his release, Mercado will serve 18 months of community custody.
