Coronavirus Skagit

Three Skagit County school districts announced plans Thursday to temporarily allow only a limited number of spectators at indoor high school sports events.

The Sedro-Woolley district will for the next two weeks allow two spectators per athlete, one per band member or cheerleader, and have limits on the number of student spectators and opposing team spectators.

The La Conner district said it will allow two family members per athlete.

Also Thursday, the Burlington-Edison School District revised its policy on spectators for the next two weeks.

It announced Wednesday it would allow no spectators, but on Thursday said it would allow two per participant (athlete, band member, cheerleader).

The limiting of fans came one day after Skagit County Public Health requested that local school districts put a two-week pause on all spectators at K-12 indoor activities because of rising COVID-19 numbers.

The Mount Vernon, Anacortes and Concrete school districts opted Wednesday to follow Public Health guidance and allow no spectators for the two-week period.
