Northwest Career & Technical Academy opens Wednesday
About 160 students will start class Wednesday at either the Northwest Career and Technical Academy campus at Skagit Valley College in Mount Vernon (above) or the marine science building in Anacortes.

The Northwest Career & Technical Academy starts classes Wednesday for its first 160 students.

Juniors and seniors will take classes in new buildings in Anacortes and Mount Vernon, studying culinary arts, finance, dental technology, computer science, sustainable design, medical technology, veterinary technology and marine science.

The classrooms are set up to give students hands-on experience with these professions.

The Mount Vernon building on the Skagit Valley College campus will be open to the public. Students will work at a fully functioning NW Plus Credit Union branch and the Byte Deli.
