MOUNT VERNON — The Skagit County Elections Department certified the final vote counts Tuesday for the general election, and no leads changed hands since the previous count.

Women countywide who are running for City Council seats met Tuesday for a discussion on the challenges facing female candidates and how to encourage women to run for office.

ANACORTES — The Island Hospital Board of Commissioners is asking voters in the hospital district to approve a 31-cent increase in the district’s property tax levy in the Aug. 1 primary election.

MOUNT VERNON — A forum for the Mount Vernon City Council candidates who will be on the Aug. 1 primary election ballot will be held tonight at Skagit Station.
