MOUNT VERNON — Four goals by four players Saturday powered the Skagit Valley College women's soccer team to a victory against a team chasing the Cardinals in the standings.

Mackenzie Carnell, Ravyn Mummey, Sara Afshari and Megan Mobley scored as the Cardinals doubled up Edmonds 4-2.

Madie Hagglund and Katie Hunter-Solis provided assists as the Cardinals survived a pair of goals by Edmonds' Amy Gonzalez Rios for the Northwest Athletic Conference North Region win. 

Cassie Mullin stopped three shots in goal for the Cardinals, who upped their record to 3-1-1 in the North Region, 4-2-1 overall. 

With 10 points, the Cardinals are second in the region. Edmonds fell to 2-3, 3-6.

MOUNT VERNON — Sergio Garduno scored a late goal to lift the Cardinals.

Garduno scored off a Paris Ruiz assist in the 70th minute to break the tie and, after the Cardinals preserved the shutout the rest of the way, secure the victory against a West Region opponent. 

Christopher Kerr made one save and was in goal the entire game for the shutout. Skagit Valley improved to 3-1-2.

Pierce is 0-6.
