February 9, 1936 - December 28, 2020 Leroy J. Gilbert passed away peacefully at home on December 28, 2020. Le was born in Walla Walla, WA to George and Thelma (Fuller) Gilbert. His family moved to Corvallis, OR where he graduated from high school. He then served his country in the US Navy and was honorably discharged in 1958. After his service to his country, Le and Eldeen Morgan were united in marriage. They had two sons, Brian and Tim. Le attended the University of Washington where he graduated with a degree in engineering. He had a 32-year career with the US Forest Service. After his retirement, he enjoyed farming and driving tractors in the Skagit valley. Le was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, backpacking and trips with Eldeen in their motorhome. In retirement he enjoyed exploring Arizona and California where he loved to fly his remote control airplanes. Le had a joyful heart and always had a smile for everyone he met. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his adoring family and friends. Le is survived by his loving wife Eldeen, and two sons Brian (Sharon) Gilbert and Tim (Jeannie) Gilbert. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Thelma, and brother Gary. A private graveside memorial will be held at a later date.
