May 27, 1943 - February 6, 2021 It is with great sadness that the family of Diane Rae (Jerns) Koenig, 77, of Sedro- Woolley, announce her passing on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at her home. The world has lost a tremendous lady. Diane was born on May 27, 1943, the daughter to Nina and Gunnar Jerns. Born in Bellingham, most of her life was spent in the Cain Lake and Alger area. She was married to Archie (Bert) Koenig of Alger for 57 years. Diane enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, the outdoors, camping and fishing with her husband and family. Throughout her life she enjoyed a good book and time to read it was also treasured. She enjoyed pets of all kinds including cats, dogs, rabbits, and horses. They were a lifelong pleasure for her. Diane enjoyed getting to spend time with all her grandchildren and their children. Time with her family and friends was always important to her. She showed tremendous care and concern for all she knew, always making sure everyone was doing well and without any needs. She showed tremendous resilience and strength throughout her life always being an inspiration to her friends and family. Diane is survived by her sons, Donald with wife, Juanita, Michael and Jeff; daughters, Cheryl and Krista along with their spouses; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; brothers, Gunnar Jr., Doug and Raymond; sister, Sandra Latham; she will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie (Bert) Koenig; along with her parents, Nina and Gunnar Jerns. Diane was laid to rest next to her husband, Archie at Saxon Cemetery in Acme, WA with a private Graveside Service. A Celebration of Life gathering with family and close friends will be announced when the current restrictions caused by the pandemic allows. When the family is able to establish a date, time and place, notice will be provided to friends and family. Funeral arrangements were made under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Northwest, 227 Freeway Dr Suite A, Mount Vernon, WA 98273. Diane's family would like to thank Hospice of the Northwest for providing incredible care and comfort. The family would also like to thank Diane's caregivers that kept her comfortable at home.
