Victor Martinez, 58, a long-time resident of the Skagit Valley died in Mount Vernon, WA on April 27, 2021. He was born in Sedro Woolley on December 7, 1962 to Eleanor Jewett and Sonny Martinez. He graduated from Burlington Edison High School in 1981. In 1984, Victor got a job with the local 86 Iron Workers Union, and transferred to the local 505 for the remainder of his career. Victor married Kerry Banta on August 23, 1989 in Mount Vernon after dating for nine years. They remained in Mount Vernon to start and raise a family. Victor provided a safe and stable home and environment to all in his family. He participated in many car shows with his Corvettes. He also loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening and camping. Victor is survived by his loving wife, Kerry Martinez; his son and daughter-in-law, Tyler and Jayah Martinez of Burlington; his daughter and son-in-law, Teasa and David Bays of Bellingham; and his incredibly special grandson, Luccas Bays of Bellingham. He is also survived by his sister, Jennifer, and his brothers, Paul, Brad, Jeremy and Nate. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Matthew, and his parents. A Memorial Service will be held for Victor on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Kern Funeral Home Chapel. A gathering will be held following the service in the Kern Funeral Home Social Hall.
