However, due to his brother Vance already serving in the Vietnam War , he was Hardship Honorably Discharged in December of 1966. After returning home, he married Annie Spoelstra on September 9, 1967 and together they raised their three children: Carrie, Jeff and Jason. Larry and Annie were married for 34 years. Larry shared his passion for fishing with his young family by spending most weekends camping and fishing together at Baker Lake, Lake Shannon and Peter Hope, Canada. Larry also spent much of his lifetime fishing the Skagit River with family and friends. The American Legion was especially important to Larry. He was a life-long member of the American Legion Post #43. Larry gave back to his community through countless hours of preparing and serving meals for the organization. It was at the Legion where he met Liz Sutton. Larry and Liz were married on August 26, 2004 and have spent over 16 years together. Throughout his adult life, Larry worked in the grocery and beverage distribution industry both delivering and working in the warehouses. He began working for IGA and later transitioned to working for Van Gasken, Walton and Sound Beverages, and last Skagit Northwest/Crown Distributing where he retired in 2007. It was his dream to retire and live in Montana. He and Liz were able to fulfill that dream by moving to Trout Creek, Montana in 2013. There they enjoyed riding their Side-by-Sides, fishing, hunting and playing cards with friends at The Lakeside. They also both continued to serve their new community by volunteering with the Elks Club . Larry is survived by his loving wife, Liz at their home in Trout Creek, MT and by his dog Maddy.
