I read the recent elk survey story hoping to learn something new about the furthest upriver herd — that of east of Concrete and into Rockport and Marblemount.

However, once again the survey was only taken as far as "all the way to Concrete." Why are we always left out? The Rockport, and now, Marblemount herd continues to grow and, as we are in a no-hunting zone, is likely to continue to do so.

We have vehicle-elk accidents up here, too, including a fatal motocycle-elk collision on Highway 530 just south of Rockport last year. Why are these never reported in the paper or in the surveys?

Please consider the whole valley and not just downriver. We count, too.
