The Stanwood Chamber of Commerce hosted a pair of ribbon-cutting ceremonies in September for two new businesses.

Island Girl Creative Studio is officially open in west Stanwood selling art and gifts from 14 local artists as well as hosting painting parties — classes where participants learn to paint scenes on canvas or wood.

“It’s a collaboration of all of these local talents,” owner Danielle Inman said. “I didn’t really set out for this, it just kind of happened this way. It just grew itself. It was meant to be.”

Inman opened Island Girl Paint about two and a half years ago in Snohomish, but started fresh after moving to Camano Island. She began by hosting a small paint party, which soon grew into a traveling business where she’d host paint parties anywhere from Snohomish to Burlington.

“I never thought of myself as a shop owner,” she said. “I’m was used to being on the move.”

Now, she’s excited to put her hard work ethic from her Long Island, New York, upbringing to help grow the business. In addition to paint parties, Island Girl Creative Studio will offer classes from its other artists on everything from painting furniture to making jewelry.

“Everyone succeeds when we work together,” Inman said.

Island Girl Creative Studio at 10017 270th St. NW, Stanwood, is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. It’s also open for classes 6 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Saint Luxury Lashes is open in Stanwood, but will host a grand opening from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, featuring raffles, food and drinks.

Owner Katie Moore set up shop in the Kohles Professional Center at 26231 72nd Ave. in Stanwood.

Moore has been a licensed esthetician and certified lash artists for five years, previously working in Mill Creek from her home south of Stanwood.

“I decided to branch out and I felt it was a good opportunity,” Moore said. “I like that Stanwood is a growing community. I feel comfortable here.”

In addition to lash extensions, facial waxing and lash lifts, Moore offers aftercare products and makeup. The shop has room to grow with three beds, but right now just Moore is working with clients.

Saint Luxury Lashes is open by appointment 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. To make an appointment or to inquire, call 360-629-4949 or visit saintluxurylashes.com.
