Concrete’s Shayne Luttrell had a solid season on the baseball diamond.
And his efforts didn’t go unnoticed as the senior was co-MVP of the Northwest 2B League. He shared the honor with Friday Harbor’s Marshall Clark.
Luttrell was impressive from both the plate and the mound. He hit .444 with 20 RBI and 15 runs scored.
As a pitcher, he ended his season with three wins, 72 strikeouts and a 3.12 earned-run average.
Fellow Lions Dalton Newby, David O’Neil and Tyler Coffell — all seniors — were named to the all-Northwest 2B League first team.
Newby hit .404 with 15 RBI and 21 runs scored, O’Neil .341 with nine RBI and 11 runs scored, and Coffell .288 with eight RBI and 14 runs scored.
Concrete junior Peyton Sanchez was named to the second team.
Softball players honored
Concrete and La Conner softball players were well represented on the all-Northwest 2B League teams.
La Conner’s Riley Banaszak was the lone player, however, to be named to the first team.
Second-team accolades went to the Braves’ Rachel Drake and to Concrete’s Aunya Carpenter and Kylie Clark.
Earning honorable mention was Concrete’s Andrea Rodgers and a pair of Braves — Maya Masonholder and Logan Lowry.
S-W’s Conn earns honor
Sedro-Woolley’s Riley Conn was recently named a Washington Interscholastic Activities Association Athlete of the Week.
Conn helped the Cubs defeat Sehome 8-3 on May 9 with both her arm and bat. In collecting the pitching win, Conn struck out eight and scattered seven hits.
From the plate, she was 3-for-4 with a pair of singles, a double and four RBI.
