MOUNT VERNON — The Skagit Valley College volleyball team notched another win Wednesday as it defeated Whatcom 26-28, 25-21, 25-22, 25-21.

Skagit Valley's Mia Sheepens tallied 16 kills and nine digs, while Libby Miller had 32 digs and Brooklyn Johnson 25.

Skagit Valley is 16-3 overall and sits third in the Northwest Athletic Conference's North Region at 5-3. Whatcom is 5-3, 17-6.

PORT ANGELES — The Cardinals were shut out in a physical match against the Pirates.

The Pirates scored both goals in the first half, in the third and 16th minutes.

The two teams combined for 10 yellow cards, with seven issued to Peninsula players.

The Cardinals are 4-5-2 in the NWAC North, 4-6-2 overall. First-place Peninsula is 10-0 in the North, 13-0 overall.

PORT ANGELES — The Pirates scored twice in the first half and once in the second as they cruised past the Cardinals.

Skagit Valley managed just three shots on goal while Peninsula had 23.

Skagit Valley, which has clinched a playoff berth, is 7-2-4 in the NWAC North, 8-3-4 overall. Peninsula leads the region with a 12-0-1 record and is 13-0-2 overall.
