BAY VIEW — A 92-year-old Bellingham man was killed Saturday afternoon in a collision at the intersection of Farm to Market and Josh Wilson roads.

The driver of the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Josh Wilson Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign, according to a news release from the State Patrol.

The vehicle was struck by a second vehicle traveling southbound on Farm to Market Road, the release states. The vehicle was struck again by a third vehicle traveling northbound on Farm to Market Road.

The driver died at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The driver and passenger of the second vehicle, a 71-year-old man and 76-year-old woman from Deming, were injured and transported to Skagit Valley Hospital, the release states.

A driver of the third vehicle, a 23-year-old man from Burlington, was uninjured.

The intersection of Farm to Market and Josh Wilson roads has been the site of a number of traffic fatalities in past years.

Bay View-area community members petitioned the county to replace the two-way stop-controlled intersection with a roundabout to improve driver safety.

The county agreed to build the roundabout and expects to start construction this month, according to the county’s website.
